Boricua Photographer Explores Puerto Rican Diaspora

Frank Espada has always stayed true to himself, his people and his art. After years of working day jobs to support his family, at 49, he decided to pursue photography full-time after winning a federal grant, allowing him to travel the United States capturing the images in his new book, The Puerto Rican Diaspora: Themes in the Survival of a People. After decades of traveling from New York to Hawaii, Hartford to Puerto Rico, Espada has amassed a revealing collection of images, illustrating the rich history and redemptive struggle of his people.
