Converse Opens Community Studio in Brooklyn, NY

From Creativity Online:

Converse has long been a supporter of musical talent, as evident in many of its recent campaigns. The brand, however has upped the ante on its arts patronage and has announced that it will be opening a music studio in Brooklyn, Rubber Tracks, to help give budding musicians a place to create their work – for free.

“Rubber Tracks will serve as a catalyst for originality by giving new and emerging bands the opportunity to record their songs in a high-quality studio setting,” the brand announced on its blog. “Musicians of all genres will be able to apply in advance for a time to use the studio – for free. As in no cost.” The studio will provide a space for rehearsing, recording and postproduction.

The musicians who use the space will also have their work and process recorded, and that content will then be posted to the Converse blog, giving them further exposure. The studio is set to open in 2011, but artists can now start registering for more info and studio time here.
