Scientists Discover Which Came First: Chicken or Egg. No, Seriously.

The age old question has been answered! Kind of.

Researches in the United Kingdom have determined that it was the chicken that predated the egg. According to the Daily Mail, “the formation of egg shells relies on a protein found only in a chicken’s ovaries. Therefore, an egg can exist only if it has been inside a chicken.” In an interview with CNN, Dr. Colin Freeman was surprised that his paper, “Structural Control of Crystal Nuclei by an Eggshell Protei,” is now being applied toward settling the chicken-and-egg debate. “Obviously, it’s not really what we were trying to get out of our simulations, but it’s an interesting question isn’t it?” he asked in such a way as to suggest that he did not, in fact, find it terribly interesting.
