The More Things Change… Bridgestone Tires’ Super Bowl Ad

Wow. How did we miss this Bridgestone Superbowl ad? We just blogged about the sexist ads of yesteryear, and to echo the sentiment of one of our readers, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Clearly, Superbowl ads traditionally target men, but what about the women who watch the ads with them, or better yet, female sports fans?

It would be interesting to know how the men feel about being pandered to in this way.

  1. I chuckled when I first saw this ad because the dialect confusion, but as a married man, take my tires, they’re replaceable. My wife is not. I don’t know why people think that men are crying out to ditch our wives for products that make us feel more “manly.” I feel great as a man already with a wife. If we have problems we get through it. Times have changed. Talk to us like we’re good, upstanding, do something with our lives men, not women hating 6-year olds (Little Rascals) who are so scared to say what they want that they result to living vicariously through products.
