YIKES… talk about making your bed and having to lie in it.
It would seem that Kanye “Insert Foot In Mouth” West won’t be joining the long list of A-list stars participating in Friday’s multi-network Hope For Haiti Now telethon. We all remember what happened last time he was on a telethon and apparently, so do the Hope For Haiti Nowcoordinators. According to PopEater:
“After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it’s just best that he does not participate,” a producing partner told me. “Kayne has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight and, well, this night it’s just not about him.”
The two-hour event will be the most widely distributed telethon in history and will air on more than 25 networks. Hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Wyclef Jean in New York and CNN’s Anderson Cooper in Haiti. Proceeds from the telethon will be split evenly between The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, United Nations World Food Programme, Oxfam America, Partners in Health, The Red Cross, UNICEF and the Yele Haiti Foundation.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Mr. West gets a chance to redeem himself, show he can play nice on national TV and use this opportunity to champion a great cause rather than his own personal beefs.
